Listen, Donald Glover. Listen. I’ve been rl patient with you, most because I am projecting the qualities of your most famous character onto you, which is unfair not only to you but to Community’s writers who are way better at their jobs than you are. 

But, like, listen. About a third of the criticism about your rapey rap career was about how it’s fucked to joke about rape, but the rest of the criticism is about how comedians or rappers or whatever only joke about rape because they are not good enough at their jobs to come up with new material. 

I’m so sick of this shit, you guys. It’s like, not only do we have to deal with rape culture all the time, but we have to deal with mid-level comedians defending rape culture as avant garde, which is made even worse by the fact that rape jokes are so 2008. 

And here’s an expert media consumer tip, y’all: anytime a comedian mentions how “nothing is off-limits,” it is because they are bad comedians. To say “I work beyond the boundaries (rape jokes)” is to say “I only have a margin of content competence (rape jokes)” and “I am really insecure about how I’m not a better comedian.”
